"It is revealed in the 12th episode, that a “senior agent” was holding onto Skye as a baby whilst he was mortally wounded with a gunshot wound to the neck with which he later bled out. In a much later episode, it is revealed that Agent Garrett - also a senior agent - received a third degree burn to the neck which he presented to Skye in the interrogation room. It is not yet known if there is any connection to Garrett and Skye.” [x]
your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness
a scene after ward comes back to the team (bc he will shush) where he and skye are sitting somewhere by themselves and neither of them are saying anything bc they have no idea what to say cos skye is so angry at him and ward has no idea what he’s even feeling anymore
and skye looks over and asks “so where did you actually get all those injuries then?” and ward chuckles quietly and goes “no, garrett really did give them to me. it was so that i would look the part.” and skye frowns and says in a genuinely concerned voice “he beat the crap out of you so that you would look the part? he didnt even get someone else to do it?” ward just sort of shakes his head and says “no no it’s ok. i mean if i ever did something stupid or compromised a mission or something then he would make sure i understood the seriousness of it - ” and skye interrupts him going “like your brother did? for eating a piece of birthday cake?” and ward freezes and skye hesitates before saying “…grant you said he saved you from yourself and the life your brother had shaped but, it sounds like he just treated you the same.” ward lets her words sink in and he stares at the bruises on his body and thinks back to how garrett has treated him and his shoulders start shaking and reality hits him and skye just sits with him and holds his hand as he realises that this team really is the only true family he’s ever had.
